Canon 15 of the First Council of Orange (Gaul, AD 441) forbids the ordination of demoniacs and orders to demote those demoniacs who are already ordained.
[Titulum ex cod. M] XIV [sic!]. De eos qui palam aliquando arrepti sunt.
[Titulum ex cod. A, R] XV. De his qui palam aliquando arrepti sunt.
[Titulum ex Collectione Hispana] XVI [sic!]. Vt energumeni ad clerum non promoueantur.
 
Qui palam aliquando arrepti sunt, non solum non assumendi ad ullum ordinem clericatus, sed etsi iam aliqui ordinati sunt, ab imposito officio repellendi.

This canon is repeated in the so-called Second Council of Arles as canon 41 (40) (see Munier 1963: 122; e.g. [549]).
