[...] There came into my hands a certain letter, coming, it was said, from Pelagius himself, writing to a friend of his, a presbyter, who, in a letter (according to what is contained in this letter) had kindly admonished him not to be for anyone an occasion to separate himself from the body of the Church. Discussion:

Augustine refers to this alleged letter of Pelagius (he is not sure of his authenticity) as written after the council of Diospolis (AD 415).

At the end of 415 Pelagius was acquitted of the charge of heresy by the synod of Diospolis in Palestine. In 417 Augustine published the acts of the synod together with his commentary, adding an account of his previous dealings with Pelagius and other details of Pelagius`s life.
