(alpha) (omega) Severus presbyter, the servant of Christ, lived for 55 years, rested in the peace of the Lord on the 11th day before the Kalends of November in the year 622 of the era [=22 October 584].

The date on the inscription is given according to the Spanish Era, which began in 38 BC.

Origin: Beja (Iberian Peninsula)
The inscrption no longer exists. It is known from three modern accounts - one from 16th c. of André de Resende (Resende 1593: 207; it was used as a source by Hübner), second from 18th c. of Francisco Pérez Bayer (J. L. de V. 1919/1920: 124 with illustration; it was used as a source by Vives), and third also from 18th c. of John Breval (Breval 1726: 325; Canto 2004: 286 it was used by the most recent editors of the inscription, Hispania Epigraphica, vol. 14 (2008), n. 417).
