Canon 75 of the Council of Elvira orders the excommunication of those who falsely accuse bishops, presbyters, and deacons. Collection of canons associated with the Council of Elvira (Iberian Peninsula), ca AD 300/600.

De his qui sacerdotes uel ministros accusant nec probant.
 
Si quis autem episcopum uel presbyterum uel diaconum falsis criminibus appetierit et probare non potuerit, nec in finem dandam ei esse conmunionem.

Canon 75
 
On those who falsely accuse the priests and ministers.
 
If someone fasely accuses a bishop, a presbyter or a deacon of crimes and cannot prove it, he or she shall not receive Communion even before death.

The exact date of the council and the nature of the Elvira canons continues to be debated. Vilella and Barred 2006, Villela 2014 argue that it is a late, heterogenous compilation created in many phases between the late 4th century and the second half of the 6th. The unitary view is defended by Sotomayor and Berdugo Villena, in Sotomayor, Fernandez Ubina eds. 2008: 89-114.
