According to Canon 97 of the Breviary of Ferrandus of Carthage (North Africa, AD 523/546, repeating earlier norms) a presbyter who had sacrificed to idols, but later soldiered for the faith, would not be deprived of his dignity, but would be allowed neither to celebrate mass nor to preach.
Canon 97

Vt presbyter, qui immolauit idolis et postea pro fide conflixit, honore quidem non priuetur, tamen nec sacrificet nec sermonem faciat.

(ed. Munier 1974: 295)
Canon 97

If a presbyter sacrificed to the idols, but later soldiered for the faith, he will not be deprived of his dignity, but he will  be allowed neither to celebrate mass nor preach.

(trans. S. Adamiak)

Discussion:

The canon repeats the norm of Canon 1 of the Council of Ancara (314 AD), although it is not explicitly said in the manuscripts. It is interesting why Ferrandus thought that it is worth mentioning in his collection: had it some connection to the recent Arian persecutions in Africa?
