A letter from the bishops present at the Council of Valence (Gaul, AD 374) to the clergy of Fréjus describing the reasons for not ordaining clergy`s episcopal candidate.
The same synodal fathers who were present at the Council of Valence write a letter to the "dearest brothers, clergy and people of the church of Fréjus" (dilectissimis fratribus clero et plebi ecclesiae Foroiuliensum) in which they state that they cannot ordain as bishop a certain Acceptus, because it will violate the canons just accepted at the synod.

Title: Council of Valence 374, Concilium Valentinum anno 374
Origin: Valence (Gaul)
Denomination: Catholic/Nicene/Chalcedonian
The Council of Valence was held on 12th of July 374. According to the preface and the various lists of signatures, more or less twenty bishops attended this synod. We know nothing of other people present at this gathering. In most codices, the synodal canons are followed by the letter of the same synodal fathers addressed to the clergy of Fréjus.
