praesulis in vicibus clausisti pectora sae̲va
ne mandata patrum perderet ulla fides
tuque sacerdotes docuisti crismate sancto
tangere bis nullum iudice posse deo
te querunt omnes te saecula nostra requirun̂t
tu fueras meritus pontificale decus
pauperibus largus vixisti nulla reservans
dedisti multis quae modo solus habes
hoc tibi care pater pietate notavi
ut relegant cuncti quam bene clarus eras

O, Mareas, you were worthy of the prize for the name of Christ.
The Apostolic See lives thanks to your defence.
Acting in place of the bishop you blocked the savage hears
so that nothing is lost from the faith transmitted by the fathers.
You instructed the priests that they should not
sign anyone twice with the holy chrism, because of God's judgement.
All sought you, our times miss you.
You were worthy of the pontifical dignity.
You lived being generous for the poor and not retaining anything for yourself.
You were giving to many what you have only acquired yourself.
