Dioscorus of Alexandria and Eutyches have been condemned by the papal legates at the Council of Chalcedon in 451, among them the Presbyter Boniface of Rome. Letter 119 of Pope Leo the Great to the Gallic bishops, written in Rome, AD 452.

Leo informs Bishops Ravennius of Arles, Rusticus of Narbonne, Venerius of Marseilles and other bishops in Gaul that his legates returned from the Council of Chalcedon where the true faith has been confirmed. He attaches a copy of the condemnation of Dioscorus of Alexandria and Eutyches which opens as follows:
 
Paschasinus episcopus Lilybaetanus, Lucentius episcopus Asculanus, et Bonifacius presbyter Ecclesiae maximae urbis Romae, vicarii sanctissimi ac beatissimi papae Leonis apostolicae sedis antistitis, pronuntiaverunt. Manifesta sunt quae Dioscorus Alexandrinae urbis antistes contra canonum disciplinam regulasque ecclesiasticas, illicita praesumptione commisit, sicut praeterita gestorum, seu praesens declaravit assertio.
