Peter was undoubtedly the founder of the basilica of St Sabina, as is confirmed by the huge inscription in it [1365]. However, the inscription dates the construction of the basilica to the times of Sixtus's predecessor, Celestine I, and Peter presents himself as presbyter in it. It is not impossible that he became a bishop (outside of Rome, of course), afterwards.
