Discussion:

The letter was addressed to the bishops of the provinces of Vienne and Narbonne in Southern Gaul. The admonition of the pope was directed generally towards the bishops, especially those who had been monks before, and maintained the monastic cloaks and ceintures after episcopal ordination.
