Canon 10 of the First Council of Narbonne (Gaul, AD 589) decrees that every cleric should respect the ordination of his bishop. He should travel to the place of ordination and obey in everything his new bishop.
Canon 10

Canon 10

This has been by all means proclaimed, that no cleric should dare to disregard the ordination of his bishop; on the contrary: he should travel to the place where he will be ordained full of gratitude and obedience, and fulfil what he was charged with. If he refuses to do so out of pride, he should be deprived not only of his stipend but also from communion for the period of one year.

Title: First Council of Narbonne, Concilium Narbonense I anno 589
Origin: Narbonne (Gaul)
Denomination: Catholic/Nicene/Chalcedonian
The First Council of Narbonne was called by Migetius, metropolitan bishop of Narbonne, and gathered six other bishops from his province. This synod was held on the 1st of November as the Third Council of Toledo (convened in May of the same year) has suggested that the provincial councils of the Visigothic kingdom should gather on that date. Migetius was indeed present at Toledo along with King Reccared who had recently converted to Catholicism.
