Epiphanius, presbyter at Rome, late 5th c.

Reference to prosopography: PCBE Italie 1: Epiphanius 4, 9

Chronological and
geographical framework:

Attested presbyterial activity: 487 - 495 in Rome (Rome),

Discussion:

There were four presbyters named Epiphanius at the Roman council of 487 AD [660], [356] to [359], and four at the council of 495 AD [661], so we assume that they are the same people (PLBE gives them separate entries). Some of them are by all probability identical with three Epiphaniuses present at the council of 499 AD [662], [360] to [362], and two at the council of 502 AD [663], [363] and [364].
